The aim of this course is to
This is a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Life course (MBCT-L) and is led in real time by Suné Markowitz-Shulman.
The course is designed to cultivate mindful awareness of our body, emotions and mind so that we can live our lives with a greater sense of wellbeing, kindness and resilience. It is an evidence-based course, developed in the light of research at Oxford University and other leading research centres and where I completed my training.
The weekly two-hour, 15 minute sessions provide an in-depth exploration of mindfulness skills and techniques within an internationally tried-and-tested framework, also recognised by the UK’s National Institute of Clinical Excellence.
The course will take place online using the platform Zoom (see further information below to ensure you have the minimum tech requirements). We’ll send out guidance for using Zoom when you book and a guide to getting the best out of this course.
Is this course for me & how can I do this at home?
The course will take place using the online platform Zoom. To use Zoom you will need a computer or a phone with a speaker and camera. Full instructions will be sent with your Welcome email when you book.
Although mindfulness can be helpful in managing depression and anxiety, our courses are not recommended for people who are currently experiencing an episode of clinically diagnosed anxiety, depression or other psychiatric illness. We do not offer mindfulness as a ‘clinical intervention’, but rather as an aid to everyday health, wellbeing and helping prevent relapse.
As part of your application please complete and return the questionnaire provided, to give the teacher some idea of your level of support and whether the course is right for you at this time. If necessary Suné may ring you to clarify issues, and you also may wish to contact us for clarification if you have any questions.
The 8 week course is also a requirement in order to undertake a mindfulness based teacher training, however the course does not qualify you to teach mindfulness. You will receive a certificate at the end of the course as proof of your attendance (minimum of 6 sessions)
Mindfulness is a practical skill and a habit, rather than a theory or body of knowledge.
Before signing up for the course it is important to recognise that getting real lasting benefit requires the commitment of regular time and effort. It is similar to getting physically fit – you need to practice regularly to train your ‘mental muscle’.
To get the most from the course we recommend you attend all 8 sessions and carry out the suggested home practice, which is a gentle but regular daily discipline of various meditation and awareness practices, with the help of guidance from carefully tailored audio resources offered by Suné
We recommend trying to set aside 40 minutes a day, which can be spread around your schedule. You will receive plenty of support for this, including how to fit it into your life. It may seem a stretch at first, but once the habit starts to be established, most people find it invaluable and highly motivating.
This will be discussed in more detail after the course, but there will be an opportunity to join a paid membership for women who have completed the course with me. In this space you can continue your practice with a group of likeminded women on a similar journey in a safe and gentle space. I will be leading bi-weekly mindfulness sessions, monthly magic mornings, monthly talks, Q&A’s and interviews with other inspirational women.
(No refunds or credit notes are offered with less than three weeks notice before commencing of program)
Minimum of 6 sessions needs to be attended to receive the certificate of attendance

1:1 VIP Support for women who feel like they are ‘ruled by their hormones’ and peri-menopause is negatively impacting their lives.
In this 3 month program, I help you mindfully navigate your hormones, lifestyle and eating habits with tools, skills and support so you will be prepared, informed and empowered to make the best decisions for your wellbeing as you transition through menopause.
The hormonal fluctuations of peri-menopause are affecting your work, relationships and social life.
You’re so stressed, exhausted and busy with managing a career, family and life, that you can’t think straight about what it is you need to be healthier, happier and more content.
You find yourself stuck in a cycle of overeating and dieting, still unable to lose weight and be happy in your body, hoping that the next diet miracle will be the answer to all your problems.
You know you need to do something to feel better, but you don’t know where to start.
You don’t want advice, food plans, more to add to your to-do list or more ‘success’ strategies to follow to ‘manage your health’
You’re a smart, independent woman and you crave uninterrupted thinking time so that you can figure out what you need to do next.
My ‘breathing spaces’ for women in all phases of menopause are just that
Who is the course for?
Mindfulness practice is like physical exercise, if we do more we tend to get more benefit.
Although mindfulness cannot entirely remove the symptoms of menopause, it can help you deal with them more calmly and compassionately.
It is appropriate for people new to mindfulness, anyone who has tried mindfulness before, either a course or an app or perhaps read a book and wants the structure of a course led by an experienced teacher.

If you are ready to feel empowered and take excellent care of your wellbeing during this transition phase of peri-menopause to menopause and value the support and encouragement of like-minded women going through similar life experiences then this group program is for you.
Here you can sign up and find out more about the trial version of my 8-week course that helps women in their forties prepare for and manage the symptoms of perimenopause, using a combination of non-diet nutrition, mindfulness and intuitive eating.
This programme combines what I’ve learned from my two decades of work with women in a targeted way, providing you with the knowledge to understand what is happening in your body and the tools to manage these changes and prioritise self-care.
These transition years are not widely discussed in the same way that we talk about fertility, birth control or pregnancy and I’m seeking to change that – moving middle age out of the shadows and into the limelight where we can still be confident, healthy and sexy. If your not sure if this applies to you, ask yourself if you have experienced any of the following:
For a long time, we’ve been taught to explain these away from the stress of managing a career, family or lockdown (!) but in reality, our bodies are also changing and the decisions we make now will have long-term implications for our health.
If you want to have better energy, improve sleep, have your best body ever and feel happy and content then this is for you!
I am running this course at a SUBSTANTIAL discount to my usual rates and will require honest feedback from participants to help hone the content.
If you are ready to explore empowering, positive changes and want to drive the evolution in how we talk about women’s health, ageing and the menopause please join me now!

Peri-menopause is the period before you enter the menopause. This can start in your late thirties, but for many, symptoms are more noticeable from 40+
You may not be aware of these as this is also a time in a woman’s life when we have a multitude of demands on our time and energy.
Anxiety, exhaustion, irritability, low mood, weight gain and other symptoms can easily be dismissed as you’re frantically try to keep all the balls in the air.
Your health, well-being and self-care are pushed to the bottom of your to-do list, but every day you’re feeling more off balance and out of control.
This session is for you if:
You’re not doing anything differently but things that never seemed to bother you before, now seem momentous.
You’re noticing changes in your body, mood and mind without obvious reason.
You’re curious about the menopause, but you wonder if it’s too early?
You’re not sure where to start or what to do.
Things are ok, but they can definitely be better.
This session is suitable for women over 35, regardless of which phase of menopause you’re in, but who are curious and want to be empowered for this incredible journey.
In this 90 minute session:
You are not broken, you don’t need fixing, but there are things you can do to support your mind and body to ensure this transition is smooth, rewarding and empowering.
Wherever you are in this journey, do what’s best for your body, mind and life!
You understand the importance of your physical and mental wellbeing .
You know what it’s like to be prepared and why it’s essential.
Every phase of a woman’s life needs preparation, think puberty, fertility, pregnancy, adopting a child, getting a degree, planning a holiday, running a business or applying for a new job?
Caring for the outcome, you do all you can, knowing there is work to be done, nothing can be taken for granted.
This is no different.
This transition of peri-menopause into menopause and beyond.
How would it be knowing you’ve got the confidence and tools to handle stress, obstacles, fluctuating hormones and a changing body and mental state with grace and ease.
You know the stakes are high if you’re not able to cope; there are so many people near and dear to you that depends on you being strong, independent and healthy and you value that.
But recently, you feel lost, overwhelmed, alone and like no one understands you.
You shovel food into your mouth over the sink, when you’re stressed, anxious, sad or bored.
You’re tired, bone tired!
Your life feels out of balance, you feel stagnated and stuck, something needs to change but you don’t know where to start. Maybe another diet? A facelift? A romance?
You don’t recognise yourself, your body, your thoughts, your sudden lack of words or outbursts of rage.
You feel invisible and wonder where you fit in with society.
It doesn’t have to be this way!
You can embrace this change with vigour and grace.
Join me on this six month intensive 1:1 coaching program which integrates mindfulness-based cognitive therapy combined with intuitive eating and non-diet nutrition for hormonal support and optimal health and well-being.
